THE FREEDOS BETA 9 ("Methusalem") DISTRIBUTION ERRATA Jeremy Davis 21 August 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the errata file for the Beta9 distribution. Any major problems or important updates for Beta9 will be posted in this file. Please read this file before reporting bugs against Beta8 or previous Beta9 prereleases to ensure that you are not reporting a problem that is already known. If you find a bug in the FreeDOS Beta9 distribution, please do not email me directly. Instead, please post a bug in the FreeDOS Bugtrack database (please search for your bug first - try to avoid entering a duplicate bug.) See http://www.freedos.org/bugs/ MAY BE MIS-IDENTIFIED AS BUGS: * Fat32 support is still considered EXPERIMENTAL, though it seems stable, many programs still do not support it or have only limited support for Fat32 partitions. * Only the BASE and SRC-BASE disks have been included, until a proper release has been made. * The GUI disk set is not included * The NET disk set is not included. * Keyb updated, I still need to ensure the list displayed during install corresponds with all available KEY files, i.e. some new KEY files may be present but not selectable. THINGS THAT ARE BROKEN: * Format's FAT32 support now seems to be stable enough. Scandisk accepts it,as well as Linux's DOSFSCK do use with care though. * No others known at this time (other than those listed in bugtrack). PACKAGES TO UPDATE: -none Obtaining updates: - Unmodified packages from original location as listed in LSM file See http://www.freedos.org/freedos/software/ - Copies are usually available on ibiblio (not always latest) See http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/ - Updated packages (since last official BETA) as available in latest distribution See http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/distributions/ripcord/upd-pkgs/ (outdated though) --------------------------------------------------------------------------
